History of newspaper: American Genius documentary THOMAS EDISON VS NIKOLA TESLA

Tesla was employed by Edison for a brief period of time to iron out the wrinkles in the company's direct current electrical system, and the two were fierce rivals. He made the decision to leave Edison's initiative and carry out own work.

Tesla's fluorescence lightbulb lost against Edison's considerably more efficient direct current method, while Edison's alternating current electrical system prevailed. Although he created it to spread the myth that direct current was safer than alternating current, Edison is credited with creating the electric chair.

A power plant would have been required for every square mile if Edison's direct current technology had been adopted by the general public. Long-distance current flow over thin conductors was made possible by Tesla's invention.
